How do you determine your blood type based on your parents blood type?

The A and B blood types are dominant. So if one parent passes on A and another passes on B, you would be AB. However, O is not dominant. If one passes on O and one passes on B, you would be blood type B. It's hard to say for sure what your parents would pass on to you.

If one parent is type A and the other is type B, you would be AB. If one is type O and one is type B, you would be B. If both are type O, you would be type O. A and A=A, B and B=B.

You would need to know their genotype; the phenotype doesn't give you enough information. If you have siblings and you know their blood type [phenotype] you might be able to figure yours out. Or you can get a blood test. Serology rules!

Unfortunately, you cannot reliably determine your blood type based on your parents' blood types. If both parents have a recessive gene, your type could be different from theirs.
