First unbolt recoil spring from engine, then remove the recoil from the unit and disassemble, remembering how it goes back together. Locate the issue and fix the problem. After you have fixed the issue, rewind the spring and put back together, making sure everthing is tight.

First locating it under the hood, you must remove a series of screws that hold the housing to the engine. After getting it out it is disassembled from the inside and there is usually a coil spring that will have to be re-wound once you add a new rope.

Before you begin this job, make sure you have the right tools. Arctic Cat's are known for bieng tough to work on. You have to remove the radiator first.
