How do you get a cutting off a rubber plant?

Look for the little nodules on the overgrowth. Those bumps are where new roots will grow if placed in water or directly in medium and watered generously until roots form and strengthen.

To take a cutting off of a rubber plant, find a healthy looking small stem and cut it at a slanted angle near the node. Dip the cutting in rooting hormone to increase your chances of getting a healthy plant out of it.

Slice approximately a 5" stem just below one node, making sure you leave at least two nodes on stem. Strip everything off except several leaves and let cutting dry somewhat.

My rubber plant is 9' tall no branches and leaves are dropping fast can I cut the top off and replant? Its about 30+yrs old belonged to my parents. Would likt to save it if I could.  add a comment
