Take a look at the types of foods that you are taking in. Many people have reactions to heavy grain-based carbohydrate diets and often those symptoms do not appear until much later in life. Try cutting back on grains, keeping meat and vegetables primary and you may find relief.

The problem could be your diet. Avoid beans, cabbage, and other gas-creating foods. If it isn't diet, the next potential culprit is a bacterial upset in your system. Try yogurt or probiotics. If that is not the case, see your doctor. It could be something more serious, such as inflammatory bowel disease, ulcers, celiac disease, or some kind of infection.

You could have allergies to foods you don't realize you have. An allergist could help you to rule this out. There are also over the counter items to help.

There are several over the counter products for this problem, including GasX (in capsules & strips), Pepcid AC, Prevacid, Tums, Rolaids, etc. Another good thing to do is to drink ginger ale. Also watch foods you eat. Try to avoid certain foods, such as gas, beans and spicy foods. Eating smaller amounts and more often also helps.

To help with the bloating, stop eating salty foods (salt absorbs lots of water and causes bloating.) To solve the gas problem, start taking Beano or a related medicine.

Bloating and gas is due to improper digestion of your food, which can be brought on by food allergies. Many people are allergic to wheat, gluten, eggs, nuts, shellfish, and dairy products. Eliminate each of these items from your diet for 2 weeks at a time to see if this helps. Your dr. can test for food allergies also.
