I think the main thing is do you have a friendship? Romantic feelings come easy but if you are not friends you will not have a lot to make it work long term. You should be able to talk to one another. Even if you are opposites, you can make it work if you keep that communication and respect going.

Some people are similar and need to introduce variety and make sure things neither person likes to do get done. Some are different and need a lot of respect and time listening. If either person starts keeping secrets, beyond a surprise birthday party, the relationship is in trouble.
