How do you make a baby blanket?

The easiest way would be to pick a fabric for the front, one for the back, some ribbon for the edge, and batting for the middle. Sew the fabrics wrong side together (3 sides) with the ribbon inside. Turn right side out and sew last edge. Put ties throughout middle.

Buy enough yards of fabric for the blanket. Fleece is a great choice; soft, warm, and easy to work with. Cut fabric into a square and hem the edges. Easy!

One patternless method requires: thread, a yard of fleece or double-faced quilted fabric and about four yards of wide blanket binding (or satin binding, which many babies/toddlers like). Cut the fabric to the exact size you desire, pin binding around the sides, and zig-zag stitch binding in place to finish.

It all matters what you know how to do. If you know how to knit or crochet an afghan would be a great idea. If not sew a quilt.
