Question by  Danie (993)

How do you paint with sand?

I think my kids would enjoy doing this.

Mix sand and powdered tempera paint together. (More paint=brighter color.) Draw a simple picture with few lines (children get the best results with landscapes that have large blocks of color), and then coat one section at a time with glue. As with glitter, pour sand onto the glue and then tap off the paper. Continue until the picture is complete.

Draw your picture on paper. Pick your powdered tempera colors. Add some dry sand to each container with the tempera. Decide where you want the colors. Put down an even layer of glue on the paper. Pour some colored sand into this. Repeat until all of the paper is covered.

After you have drawn or sketched out the picture in mind, you want to find some fine coloring powder of the colors you want to use. Next, mix some small amounts of dry sand with the powder. Now use an even layer of glue and sprinkle your sand down.

First, mix sand with water. Add just enough water to make a paste. Then, put it in a ziplock bag, cut a hole, and squeeze onto paper painted with glue.
