Start by writing your personal information at the top, including contact info. When making a resume, consider your past employment. Describe your tasks and how long you were employed at each business, starting with the most recent. Describe your duties in third person. List and relevant qualifications you have.

You should first of all take a look at some resumes online or from friends. You have to use an easy to read template and insert the information required for the job. You will have to chose which qualifications and experience to write, since not all of them are relevant. Be careful not to seem over qualified for the job.

Start by making lists: education (dates, school name, degree), activities (both in and outside of school), organizations, and volunteer work all can give employers a picture of who you are. Once you have this information, read about resume formats (from books or online) to identify and order your best information.

Many computer programs offer software programs or templates to help you get started with creating a resume. There are also software programs available to buy at stores, or perhaps there are free versions available online. If creating your own resume seems overwhelming, you can sometimes find services in the yellow pages that offer resume help.

To prepare a resume, the easiest method is to search online for a template or sample to base yours off of. You will find many results.
