Divorce papers can be sent through the mail, they can be mailed to you and you can give them to your spouse, or an attorney can have them served by a process server. The last option would mean that a person sent by the court would personally present the papers to your spouse.

You need to meet with an attorney to start the divorce process. Your attorney will have your spouse served with the divorce papers. There are advertisements about doing your own divorce by writing your own legal documents, but it is better to hire a professional to protect your interests in such an important matter.

You will want to seek counseling first, and try to seek documentation that you were fully involved in trying to make it work. It could become costly otherwise.

You need to go and see a lawyer. They will draft up papers for you and then the papers will be served to your spouse. They deliver the papers, you don't need to do a thing.

You can send them by your local sheriff's office for one. You also have the option of certified mail, with return receipt requested. On that option you might want to make sure it can only be obtained by addressee only, to insure they can not claim they never got them. Last, you can hand deliver them yourself.

You first off start by going to a lawyer and filling out the paperwork. The lawyers then file it with the courts and someone will deliver papers to your spouse.
