The best maintenance is to clean your boat regularly and prevent build up of scum, algae or other organisms. In most states, you may be required by law to clean when moving between certain water bodies. When cleaning, inspect the rivets and look for any unusual wear or corrosion.

It needs some compatible antifouling paint to prevent the growth of barnacles, weeds, and zinc anodes. If there is a dent you can hammer the dent back in place. After you get out of the water with the boat, look it over for damages.

Make sure that your boat has no cracks or leaks immediately. A crack will only develop rusting areas and grow over time
