It depends on the type of allergies. Some allergies can be treated with a small dose of Benadryl. Food allergies can be treated by keeping the dog on a special diet and keeping them away from certain foods. Dogs can also be given steroid injections by the vet for certain types of allergies. It's always best to see a vet.

It depends on which types of allergies they have. My dog has seasonal allergies, the vet perscribed a steriod for.I do put allergy sprays on him and use an allergy shampoo also perscribed by the vet. With food allergies you have to eliminate foods one by one, chicken, wheat, beef, corn, to determine which food they are allergic to.

This depends on what the dog is having an allergic reaction to, and the seriousness of the reaction. In some cases, you will treat the dog with OTC drugs such as benadryl and in others they require medications that can only be received from your vet.

Try treating your dog with over the counter antihistamines such as Benadryl, tavist, etc. Also, using a topical shampoo such as aloe and oatmeal will ease itching.
