Some of the treatments include the use of medicated lotions and lubricants as recommended by dermatologists. They will also advice the patient to avoid strenuous activities because this can aggravate the condition. Lukewarm baths instead of hat baths are also recommended. For some, steroidal medication is prescribed.

Pityriasis rosea is not a dangerous skin rash and no treatment is generally required. Unfortunately, it can be very uncomfortable for some sufferers because of the itching. Oral antihistamines can reduce this. Sunlight also speeds healing, though it may not reduce the actual itching. Be cautious in using steroids as new skin formed will not match the old skin immediately.
