Compression check the engine, every cylinder. If ok: remove the exhuast from the header back. Most vapor locking is caused by plugged exhuast system.

It sounds like you've either got a faulty freon tank that is messing with the compression in your vapor lock, or you've got a exhaust leak from wear and tear.

Vapor lock is caused by gas vapors making the fuel delivery to stop working. Typically this only occurs in carburetored vehicles. However if you are sure it's vapor lock them examine the fuel system looking for spots where the lines may be getting too hot.

Pay attention to your fuel hoses and if they are touching anything hot. Anything that increases the temperature of the fuel can increase tendency towards vapor lock.

One of the main causes of vapor lock is bad gasoline especially on a hot day. Refrain buying super cheap gasoline to avoid this trouble. Adding high octane to the gas, the better.

Well, if you want to trouble shoot the lock, then you have to see if antifreeze is required or not.

Bad gasoline will cause the 460 motor in my 1982 E350 to vapor lock on a hot day. Adding octane booster or Heet water remover to the gas usually helps to burn more smoothly through the bad tankful.

Vapor lock occurs when the fuel in the fuel system gets to hot to stay a liquid(Boils). Keeping the fuel lines away from the heat (exhaust pipe, etc)will usually stop this from happening. Removing the top of the carburetor is all that is necessary to replace the float. The fuel pump can be tested on the vehicle.
