How do you wire a doorbell so it rings in one part of the house but not another?

I don't want to disturb my ailing mother.

A conventional doorbells' sound is by its' installed location. It's directly wired into the house. Moving the wiring isn't practical. Wireless doorbells are available, which use a radio transmitter button to signal a wall powered ringer. This ringer can be placed most anywhere. Once installed, disconnect the existing doorbell ringer.
