A yearly physical is important, even if you rarely get sick. Certain disease or ailments can be detected before they become serious, but only if the physician is looking for them. Also when visiting your doctor can help prevent diseases and increase your health and happiness. Prevention is better than waiting for something bad to happen.

It's very important. You should see your doctor regularly to check things you can't monitor yourself like blood pressure, cholesterol, etc. If you are female, it is VERY important to get a yearly PAP test to check for cervical cancer and other illnesses. Men should have their prostate checked yearly.

Annual medical check-ups help detect any illness or medical issues before they can become major health problems such as cancer, blood lipid levels, of even STDs. They also provide an opportunity for you to continue your relationship with your physician in case you become ill in the future.

I started having yearly check-ups when I hit forty. Lots of conditions "incubate" in the body, doing damage before we realize it - silent killers. High blood pressure is an example. Diabetes is another. Do you want to find out when you are 55 that your kidneys have been destroyed by adult-onset diabetes you could have controlled years earlier?

It's a good idea because they will take important readings such as your cholesterol and blood pressure, allowing them to detect any changes early that could signal a problem.
