From any body tissue that contains DNA, enzymes break down the cells' proteins, fats, and other obstructions that are on the tissue. The DNA is then washed several times and get into a pellet form before getting rehydrated using elution buffer into what can be formally used for further experimentation.

There are several techniques that can be used to extract DNA. Probably the most common way is either using a lysing agent or heat separating DNA proteins making them available for analysis. Sample is applied to a special plate and electric current drives the proteins to specfic regions for identification.

The cell sample is first disintegrated to access the DNA by grinding or sonication. Lipids and proteins from the cells are then removed by adding suitable reagents. Finally, the DNA is precipitated using alcohol and recovered by centrifuging.

Basically you need to open the cells and expose the DNA. Remove the lipids with chemicals, exposing raw material. Remove proteins and place in a cold ethanol solution.

DNA is typed through a process called PCR, or polymerase chain reaction. There are many steps in this process but the ultimate goal is to amplify, make copies, of specific DNA sequences. Though this scientist are able ot tell if two people are related or if samples match.
