If you have had the hearing to determine whether you should receive social security disability, it may take three months or longer, whether the benefits are awarded or rejectedd. If the social security is based on the death of an eligible spouse, then the benefits for the children should begin in several weeks.

It can take anywhere between 1 and 3 years. The process involves a court hearing and a lot of paperwork. Be sure you have a good lawyer so it will not take long. It really depends how long the government takes to process your claim.

It could be years. The show '60 minutes' has done several episodes about people who are obvioulsy eligible and it has taken 2-3 years. The system is totally overloaded right now. You might call your local offic and ask politely if they have any information regarding your case.

The entire process for me took a little over six months from the time of application, until the award letter. It took another 3 months before the first check arrived.

If you are awarded benefits at the initial application level then you may receive an award notice letter roughly within three months. If you have to have a disablity hearing then you may have to wait an additonal 6 weeks to receive an award due to the volume of claims.
