Turmeric is a spice. It has no RDA and no lethal dose. It is water soluble, so it won't harm your liver. Take 250-500mg daily. There is no evidence that it is harmful over the long haul and you will not build any tolerance. Do what works.

Turmeric is related to ginger root and is one of the spices in curry powder. Others include fenugreek, coriander, cinnamon, etc. Some people eat curry daily! If you have gallstones or a bile problem, don't use turmeric. It can also act as a uterine stimulant. Curcumin is the component in turmeric offering medicinal effects, including anti-inflammatory and antibacterial action.

One to three capsules a day of turmeric are usually safe to take for extended periods of time. If pregnant or having gallbladder problems, stop taking it. It also increases the risk for kidney / bladder stones. Read the bottle to make sure that there are no other ingredients in the capsule that you do not wish to take.

Turmeric is a food spice and is used in a lot of ethnic dishes. Taking this for an extended period of time should not be harmful to your health in any way unless you have an allergy or cross-reaction with another drug.

Turmeric is safe to take in small doses for a long period of time but when used in large doses, it can cause stomach aches and possibly ulcers.
