It should take about 3 days for the swelling to go down and stop being noticeable to someone looking at your face from the outside. But you should feel pain and tenderness for a week and up to 2 weeks after the extraction procedure was performed. Good luck! And get lots of rest.

Typically, after having wisdom teeth removed, your jaw will be swollen for a few (1-5) days. If there is still swelling after about a week, call your doctor because it may be a more serious problem like an infection. To reduce swelling take tylenol and apply ice a few times a day.

The larger facial swelling will last about one day. If you treat it with ice packs it will lessen the swelling faster. The swollen tissue at the extraction site may last 3-7 days, and is often treated with pain relievers and antibiotics If pain worsens contact a doctor to verify you don't have dry socket or an infection.

The questions is was the lump there before the wisdom tooth was extracted? If so, the lump should have gone the first few days after extraction. If it is not gone, go back to the dentist and have him take a look at the lump and see if you need to see a doctor.
