Answer by  Trina94 (94)

It is commonly thought that we are born with approximately 16 trillion brain cells. At the beginning of the third trimester, synapse formation occurs at a rate of around 40,000 per minute. Synapses are connections between brain cells. In the first six months of life, one million synapses form per SECOND. From age 2 until adolescence, excess neurons/synapses die off.

It's difficult to estimate the number of brain cells people are born with, but typically it's around 100 billion neurons. This, however, does not include any of the support cells (like glials) that are critical to the way neurons function. If you add up all the cells, then humans are born with about 10 trillion.

You are born with billions of brain cells. The brain is such a cool organ. No one really knows for sure the exact amount. It can vary for each person.

At birth, a human baby has approximately 16 trillion brain cells, also called neurons. Recent research indicates that we humans continue producing neurons throughout life. This is contrary to the old thinking that we had all the neurons we would ever have at birth. So, yes, you can GROW smarter!

the average human is born with at least one hundred billion brain cells. an adult brain cannot grow new brain cells. memory works by rewiring old brain cells to remember new things, not by growing them. did you know that brain cells can be destroyed by drinking alcohol or doing drugs.

Genetics determine the number of brains cells a person or animal is born with. Also, individual circumstances can dictate the number as well, such as; mothers diet during pregnancy, and environmental factors.
