Tumor less than 2 cm is graded as stage 1 cancer if lymph nodes are not affected and there are no metastasis. Stage 1 cancer is diagnosed when the cancer cells begin to invade normal tissue near the ducts in which cancer originates. You really need more information to get a proper prognosis for a cancer. Most doctors will use the NPI (Nottingham Prognostic Indicator) to establish the severity of a cancer. This takes into account the size of the cancer, the grade and also if the cancer has spread to any of the axillary lymph nodes.
