In general e85 costs about 60-80 cents less a gallon then does the cheapest of the unleaded fuels. The only other cost involved is the cost to change your car over to being able to use this fuel which depends on the make of th ecar.

According to e85prices. com the national average for e85 is $2. 07 per gallon. The site will also tell you how much e85 costs per mile (i. e. $2. 07 per gallon with 26MPG = $0. 08 per mile. Selecting your zipcode will show you how much e85 costs at each reported station per gallon.

Currently the average cost for a gallon of e85 ethanol is $2.17 in the US. Although, depending on where you are located, it could be different. For example, it cost $2.30 in California for one gallon.

It kind of depends on the exact brand of e85 you are purchasing, and whether you're purchasing it from a licensed dealership or from a junk yard or wrecker. In general i would expect to pay no more than about 500 dollars, but if it's used you could get it for half that.

Here in Northern California it runs about the same as regular unleaded. Sometimes I see it for a little less but nothing extreme. Just a few cents.

In areas that have a large market for e85 such as the Midwest, the fuel usually costs about the same as unleaded gasoline gallon for gallon. Other areas however, were only a few service stations sell the fuel blend, you can usually expect to pay a small additional amount.
