I'm not sure that Vaseline is a good thing to give to a ferret. It's a petroleum based product which is totally foreign to that type of animal.

If you are administering the Vaseline for a hairball problem give your ferret a small dab in the morning. If the condition lasts more than 2 days consult a vet.

The right amount of Vaseline to give to your ferret should be no more than the equivalent of the length of the tip of your index finger to the second digit. Any more can cause digestive issues and may possibly be aspirated into the animals' lungs, which would be fatal.

When using Vaseline as a laxative for Ferrets, you should apply a small amount (every three days) onto one of their front paws. The ferret will then lick the substance off and it should help with hairball control. Anything more frequent than this could cause issues with the Ferret's stomach.

Ferrets can handle about 1 tablespoon of Vaseline. It needs to be plain (not scented) and fresh and clean. Double check and make sure the only ingredient in your Vaseline is Vaseline petroleum jelly. Giving your ferret this problem is like giving it a laxative. Give the Vaseline every few hours as needed.
