How often does a postage rate increase take place?

Normally, it actually depends on the price of gas. The real reason people stopped sending mail is because email is free and much faster.

Each year, postage rates are subject to change in accordance with inflation. This decision goes into effect in May. While prices have been on the rise, it was the invention of email that made people considered "snail mail" an inconvenience. The Internet is simply faster, and no postage is required.
