If you decide to declaw your cat, you should wait until it is no longer a baby kitten, and at least four months old, before scheduling the appointment.

Normally a kitten must be at least 6 months old before a vet will consider declawing it. The older a cat is, the harder this will be for it.

Generally speaking, you should wait until they are at least six months of age or older so that they are still young, but old enough to cope with the pain.

Declawing is cruel and painful and inhumane. There are alternative actions nowadays, such as "softpaws" (like false fingernails, even come in designer colours), which clip over the claws to stop damage to you and your couch! Declawed cats cannot protect themselves or escape predators easily either!!

You can declaw a cat an any age but it is best at the age of 3 to 5 months.
