How should I make a roof cricket?

It should be twelve inches at least in legnth. Its main purpose is to keep the water off the chimney so make it as close to the chimney as possible.

Well the thing with roof crickets are they should be located as close to the chimney as possible. This is because their function is to prevent water from entering the chimney. Thus you want to make sure that you use some shingles and tar/sealer to assist you in making the cricket.

roof crickets are made so that water dose not sit or puddle up and cause a leak so for instance a chimney coming up through the roof. you would put a horizontal 2x4 from the roof to the center of the chimney acting as a small ridge. put cleats on chimney. sheet with plywood. use tar paper and shingle

You should draw out the area that you would like to work with. In particular draw lines in which you will work from angle to angle. Then you will have to make the saddle the same slope as the roof is going. In other words, make sure they are properly aligned diagonally.
