How would you compare the Sylvania DVD player to other models?

I would rate Syvania's DVD player fairly poorly. You would be much happier with even a low-end sony unit, or a panasonic. You may at this point consider an inexpensive blu-ray player to be more future proof, but I would also recomend against Sylvania in this case. In any case, look for a device with component, composite, and HDMI outputs.
