Surgery for vertigo is rare and controversial. It is not the first treatment of choice for the condition. However, some doctors may attempt to repair or "plug" a fistula, or hole, in the ear drum with artificial material. The plug will likely contain a drainage tube to relieve pressure build-up in the ear.

I have never heard of surgery for vertigo. Vertigo is fainting a blood pressure related disorder. I think you mean vitiligo (white patches of skin).

Realize that this surgery is not foolproof and could make your vertigo worse. You may also lose your hearing permanently following the surgery.

Surgery is very rare for the treatment of vertigo. Any surgery of this type is considered controversial and will not correct the problem. Use caution if you are getting this surgery.
