A resume is more likely in applying for any job, but you can add your curriculum vitae at the end of your resume. It also really depends on what the company you are applying for requires.

They are probably asking for a resume, so you should send a resume. However, you can include your prior work experience along with a list of the classes that gave you skills that could help with the receptionist job. Make it a combination resume.
