Retained hardware (ICD Code 733. 99) used to repair fractures are not immediately disqualifying. Disqualification would stem from a partially healed fracture, unstable ligaments, continued pain, a likelihood of re-injury, or an inability to satisfactorily perform military duties. Disqualification can be overturned with an approved waiver.

No, having Screws in your ankle does not automatically prevent you from joining the Marines. You will go through MEPS to make sure you are physically qualified to begin training. You may need to get a waiver from your OSO or your recruiter that says it is okay, but if you can meet the standards it is okay. Generally speaking.

Unfortunately this is going to disqualify you. Usually the only time they would accept this is if you were already enlisted. However, if you would be doing something medical you could enlist as a civilian and work in the on base hospitals.

You should consult a Marine recruiter to get the answer you seek; it is unlikely that screws will disqualify you as long as your mobility is uncompromised. Many Marines have slight physical impairments.

The US Marines is very demanding and I'm not sure that screws in your ankle would allow you to go through with the training.
