In calculus, how do I find the volume of a torus?

Let R be the distance from the centre of the tube to the centre of the torus, and let r be the radius of the tube. Then, the volume of the torus is equal to 2*pi^2*r^2*R. Similarly, the surface area of a torus is given by 4*pi^2*R*r.

The best way would be to use Pappus Theorem for the volume of a solid of revolution. You can look it up in a calculus text.

Let R = distance from the center of the tube to the center of the torus, r = radius of the tube. Then volume = (2*Pi*R)*(r^2*Pi)

If radius of the tube = r and distance from the center of the taurus to the middle of the tube = R, V=(pi*r*r)*(2*pi*R)
