Bipolar is one of the most difficult to treat mental disorders due to the side effects of medications and reluctancy for the patient to continue taking them when they begin to feel better.

Bipolar is treated with a mood stabilizing med. The type used can have a flat affect and people don't always like to take them. The medications taken can also affect the body's functions such as the endocrine gland. This will propbably be permanent. It is a matter of treating the lesser problem at the moment.
