Yes, that will be fine. This antibiotic is a mild one and covers a broad spectrum of infections. Most antibiotics are safe to take during pregnancy but of course your physician is the best one to consult and you will have to have a prescription to get an antibiotic. Also the pharmacist will know.

Many women have taken Ciprofloxacin during early stages of pregnancy without any major risks. Often, early pregnancy signs are unknowingly mistaken for an illness and Ciprofloxacin is prescribed. Though there have not been enough human studies, those in rats have shown some concern. These tests were done in mid to late trimesters, no early trimester risks were found.

Doctors recommend you should avoid all drugs in pregnancy just to be on the safe side. This one is not especially dangerous, and very few problems have been reported (less than 3% of babies exposed to it showed any signs in one study) so enjoy your pregnancy and try not to worry.

According to the FDA, Ciprofloxacin has not been studied enough to determine the effects on an unborn child. But in animals it has shown to have an effect on bone development. You should tell your doctor about taking this drug while pregnant.

There are not much literatures to say that Ciprofloxacin can be safely taken during early pregnancy since more studies have not been conducted on humans. Yet, under the physician's advice, this drug could be taken, but also it varies with the patients, not suitable for everyone. Furthermore, this drug SHOULD NOT be taken during breastfeeding as it may affect infant.

You should talk to your doctor about this. Ciprofloxacin should only be taken during pregnancy when the benefits of taking the medication outweigh the risks. Ciprofloxacin can cause congenital malformations and birth defects in fetuses. The FDA assigns Ciprofloxacin in the pregnancy class C drug. It is best to seek medical advice regarding first trimester exposure to the drug.

Ciprofloxacin is something your doctor would only give you if nothing else is available. Talk with your doctor if you have any concerns about your pregnancy.

Not medical advice: Ciprofloxacin during pregnancy has not been studied on humans. I would inform your physician of your concerns. It is not recommended to take Cipro when breastfeeding. Best of Luck.
