Is it safe to take really hot showers while you are pregnant?

I have been told to not take hot baths while I am pregnant but nothing was said about showers.

It is fine to take an hot shower. It is very relaxing and soothing. It will not hurt the baby as he or she is very protected in your tummy.

This is an old wive's tale based on a bit of truth. It is not safe to become overly hot while you are pregnant. The myth is to avoid all hot water from hot tubs to hot baths and showers. This is not required as you would feel completely uncomfortable, (hot, hard to breath), long before there is any danger.

You are fine to take hot showers but do not take extended hot ones as they will rise your body temperature which is not safe to do during a pregnancy. A normal length shower should be fine and will not cause harm to you or your baby. If you have further concerns consult with your OB.

Yes. It is however not safe to take really hot baths or be in a hot tub when you are pregnant. This is specifically important when you are in your early pregnancy. Miscarriage rates increase when the body temperature increases.

It's fine as long as the water doesn't get over 100 degrees. If it's too hot it is just as bad as a hot bath. Cool your body down afterwards.
