Is it wise to quit a job you just started?

My boss is a jerk, and I have no desk.

Before you quit, have a conversation with your boss and see if he or she will give you a desk and any other tools you need to perform your job. If that doesn't work, you should contact Human Resources. Don't just walk out -- let your employer know what's going on first. It helps to leave with a good reference.

It is certainly not uncommon for a new employee to start a job only to realize it is not exactly what they expected. If you are unhappy it is wise to quit your job.

It can look bad on your resume. Before you quit, look at whether or not it is the job you don't like or the supervisor. If you like the job, find out if you can work in another department.

Maybe or maybe not. Is it easy to find a job in your area? If not, then maybe it is wiser to stay with this job. If your dignity, name or your safety is at stake, then I'd say quit the job. It is your call. After all, you are the one who is going to pay the bills.
