You can use Miracid but there are better ways to fertilize arbs. Miracid is water soluble and must be applied as a drench or a spray. It gives a quick, one shot fertilization. Use granules broadcast at the base of the plant or fertilizer stakes and pound them in the ground. It provides a longer feed.

The point is moot as Sterns no longer makes Miracid. I have heard Hollytone recommended, but the general consensus is that fertilizer spikes are not to be used.

Arborvitaes thrive in acidic soil. Make sure you read the instructions for the proper amount for your plant. You may spray the entire plant, or feed just the roots. If you feed just the roots, make sure you water the soil slowly, to keep from having too much runoff.

Arborvitaes are very adaptable plants which can thrive in either acid or alkaline soil. They will benefit from annual fertilization of any kind, just don't use fertilizer spikes on them.

A fertilizer specifically made for conifers is best. A soil test will tell you the PH of the soil. Miracid may swing the acidity too far.

Miracid is not necessarily bad as a fertilizer it is just considered a quick one time feed. For a longer fertilizer consider a granule.
