Is the tetanus antitoxin effective for goats?

Although adult goats are thought to have a natural immunity to tetanus but it is good to vaccinate both young goats and adults. The antitoxin is given when a wound is being treated and is thought to be effective in helping to prevent the disease, as opposed to the tetanus toxoid which is the immunization given as a routine preventative.

The tetanus antitoxin could be affective toward goats. Why? Well, Goats have the tendency to rub up against metal fences, and pull on chains which are put around their neck. Thus, if they have any lesions or if any skin lesions are caused by this, they could get tetanus.

The tetanus anti-toxin is indeed effective for goats though it's effectiveness seems to rely more on how rapidly it is administered to time of infection occurring.

Goats usually live outside and are out in the elements. Many are in a gated area or around rusty objects. So if they rub against a rusty nail and get cut they could get very sick. It is best to have not only your goats but all your animals shots up to date.
