Is there anything dangerous about a wheel for pet mice?

I don't want to hurt my mice.

Yes. Mice can be trapped under the wheel/in the spokes and die. This isn't to say that you shouldn't get a wheel- mice love them. Just do your research and buy a safe one.

Just the fact that if you don't watch them carefully they can possibly get their foot caught if they get going a little faster than they should. If it has a tail it could get caught up also. Usually this never happens that much. You should always be on the lookout though.

Yes, the wire wheels can be very dangerous for pet mice. Their small paws can fall through the grates while they are running and get pinched or break. Plastic wheels with no holes in them are the best for mice to use. They allow your mice to get the exeercise they need while being safe.

Bar wheels are not safe, whether plastic or wire. They can cause tail damage and broken necks or backs. Go for a 'saucer wheel' (safest and best) or a mesh wire wheel (close second).

No. Mice are very resilient creatures and a wheel provides far more benefits for their health than any possible mishaps could counteract.
