I have heard that smoking mullein leaf can help you to withdraw from smoking cigarettes and it may work for other types of smoked substances. I have also heard that taking Omega-3 fish oil supplements can help with addiction but you should try to get them from the company and not from Walgreens.

Weaning off drugs helps lessen withdrawal symptoms. Reducing the dose over time is often safer than going cold turkey. This is particularly important for drugs with severe withdrawal effects, such as benzodiazepines, painkillers, antidepressants, etc. For street (& prescription) drugs, rehabilitation centers/programs may ease withdrawal. Cold turkey's tough, not impossible.

There are medications that a person can take to ease drug withdrawals. These medications can vary depending on which drug a person is withdrawling from. It is important to withdrawl from drugs under medical supervision and take these medications if you're advised to. Going "cold turkey" isn't always safe.

There are many forms of medicine and herbal supplements you can take to help with withdrawals. Heroin addicts have methadone and chantix for cigarette smokers.
