Dark chocolate does not contain any lactose. However you must be sure that the fillings or topping on some of the fancy chocolates are lactose free also. You could purchase a kosher pareve chocolate, such as Scharffen Berger. There are many good kosher chocolates on the market. Not all kosher chocolates are lactose-free, make sure you purchase the kosher pareve.

Finer dark chocolates do not contain dairy, and are therefore lactose-free. Also white chocolate is usually dairy free. Really only milk-chocolate should contain dairy, but check the label just in case.

Yes, lots of natural food stores will carry lactose free chocolate. Any chocolate marked vegan would be lactose free, and many are doing so. Many dark chocolates do not use any milk products.

Yes, there is chocolate that is lactose free! Dark chocolate, contains cocoa butter and chocolate liquor (not alcohol type liquor) and sometimes dark chocolate, there should be no dairy listed on the label. There is also rice-milk chocolate, that tastes very similar to milk chocolate, but contains no milk/dairy/lactose products.

You should buy dark chocolate. Dark chocolate has less milk than milk chocolate or white chocolate. Dark chocolate has very little milk or cream so it should not aggravate lactose intolerance.

Good quality dark chocolate should be lactose free, though the less expensive versions may still have dairy-derived products in them.
