This could be caused by an upper respiratory infection or just dust. Minor eye tearing is nothing to worry about as long as it isn't happening all the time. Even in normal circumstances the tear ducts of a cat will tear. It does not mean that your cat is sad.

Your cat could be allergic to something in the environment. She could also be getting into dusty areas or areas with cobwebs. Many human drugs are dangerous for cats, but my vet told me that my cat could have chlorpheniramine. You should ask your vet how much to give, though; it's a very small amount.

Quite possibly it could be common for the breed of cat you own. Some breeds actually tear often because it's inbred in them. If the tearing is not clear, but tinged yellow or green this indicates infection.

There could be possibly two reasons for the tears in the eyes of the cat. First one being that the eyes of the cat are soaring and you have to consult a veterinary doctor in this regard. The second one is that the tears in the eyes of the cat are considered as a bad omen for the owner.
