A hydrangea's color can be determined by the alkilinity of the soil around it. In order to bring color back to your plant, add some mulch near it, and also bury some acidic items such as white vinegar or coffee grounds in the ground as well.

the type of soil that you have changes the color of certain hydrangeas. if you soil is acidic than the color will be bluer and if your soil is alkaline they will be pinker. adding aluminum sulfate will turn your hydrangeas blue. I might even add a little 5-10-5 fertilizer

One way to try to get color is to add some mulch around your hydrangea plant. This can change the alkalinity of the soil around your plant, which causes the flowers to get color. You can also bury acidic things like rusty nails near your plant,or port stale beer around it.

This may very well be because of you soil. If your PH is off this could be the cause. I would have your soil tested to rule out this possibility.

Correct the acid content in your soil. Putting a little white vinegar in their water can do this as will coffee grounds.

They are not giving enough light. They need direct sunlight to produce chlorphyll the substance that makes them green and healthy.

It is most likely that your soil is too acidic. You want a PH level right around 4. 5, so you would need to adjust the alkilinity of the soil, most likely with aluminum sulfate- be careful though, too much will burn the roots, make sure you consult your garden center.

You have to focus on the pH levels of the soil, as that factor determines the color of the hydrangea plant.

To bring out the color of your hydrangeas make sure to plant them in the proper soil. Blue colored hydrangeas like an acid soil. To encourage the bluing your hydrangeas raise the soil acidity. You can naturally do this by adding citrus peels or evergreen needles. For the red variety keep the soil neutral with a good fertilizer.
