Should I belong to a cross country motor club?

Definitely consider joining AAA -- they are available all across the country. One incident with a flat tire or a need for towing and you've more than paid for your membership. Meanwhile, maps and trip planning are free, and there are lots of great discounts available, too. The magazines are full of helpful info as well.

No you should not join a traveling club, unless you travel over 300,000 miles a year because it cost way way to much money to join one of those clubs.

It is a good idea to belong to a good cross country motor club if you do a lot of traveling. It will help you with road side assistance if your car should break down, or you have another type of emergency like running out of gas, or locking your keys in your car.
