Should I buy an old iron bed?

For comfort reasons, plan on using only the headboard of the old iron bed. They are notoriously short, and generally don't come bigger than a double. I think an iron bed would make a better guest room purchase, as they are cute but not very comfortable.

As long as it's still solid and not rusty, these can look great in a master bedroom. You might want to consider coating it with a rust inhibitor if you live someplace with high humidity.

Of course, this all depends on your taste. The mere fact that you are considering it tells me you like vintage furniture. Be sure and check the construction for sturdiness.
