In homes with a good grounding system it is possible to take a shower or bath during a thunderstorm without risking being struck by lightning. There is a risk of lightning entering a phone line, so talking on the phone during a storm is not advised.

Yes, to be totally safe, one shouldn't take a shower nor be talking on the phone during a thunderstorm, plus not wash dishes, watch TV or listen to the radio!

Are you kidding me? Isn't there just one place you can go without your phone? I would advise that you avoid talking on the phone while showering whether there is a thunderstorm or not. It's good for the soul.

Both of these are urban myths. Showers have no effect on safety during a thunderstorm. There have been fewer than 5 people who have been proven to have been electrocuted by lightening hitting a phone line while they talked on the phone - and this problem is nonexistent for cell phones.
