If you are sexually active and do not want to get pregnant, you should use some form of birth control. Early menopause is no guarantee that you won't ovulate. If the hormones in hormonal birth control are causing problems while starting menopause, try a form of birth control that is not hormonal, such as condoms or a spermicidal lubricant.

Generally, you can take hormonal control for these measures. However, it would probably affect the hormonal levels and aggravate peri-menopausal symptoms in some women. There are many other alternatives if you are hesitant.

I would suggest talking to your doctor about what would be best for you with your current health. They know what is best for your particular circumstance.

Yes, you can take birth control medication during menopause. Birth control pills often mask menopause symptoms. Otherwise, use an alternate choice such as condoms.
