It is likely that the mother and the pups have worms. Worms are transmitted through fleas. Talk to your veterinarian about worming the puppies and what he recommends for the mother. The use of over-the-counter worming medications is dangerous and ineffective. Save money and preserve the health of your dogs by getting professional advice.

The female should not be wormed at the same time as her litter. The female can be wormed 6 weeks after she has finished nursing.

Yes, that would be best for the health of the puppies and the bitch. If you don't worm the bitch at the same time and she does have worms, then the puppies can continue to get reinfested with the worms.

Not med advice: It is not recommended to worm the female especially if she is still nursing her pups. I would have been better to worm her prior to breeding.
