If you know that the hernia is causing the pain, the only solution is surgical repair If you are overweight, losing weight could alleviate symptoms. Although a hernia by itself is not dangerous, often physicians recommend surgery to correct it, due to the possibility that part of your intestines could get caught in the hernia, a serious situation.

Any hernia that is causing pain should be repaired. A hernia will not heal on its own, and will only get worse. Some can be allowed to remain if they are not affecting the people who have them, but if you have pain, you need to see a doctor.

If you are having symptoms from an inguinal hernia that are interfering with your daily functioning, elective surgery to repair the hernia is a good idea. The surgery is very minor and usually without complication.

yes. inguinal hernia is actually common especially among athletes or physically active people. and to treat this is considered an elective decision, meaning that it is not an emergency condition requiring urgent treatment. however, when discomfort is present and normal functions such as walking is affected, surgery should be done.
