President Ronald Reagan will go down in history as a good president. He was elected at a time when he was needed the most. After the troubles of the 1970s, Reagan's optimism lifted the country and contributed to his win in 1980. He broke the back of the Soviet Union and spurred economic growth at home. Indeed a good president.

Whether Reagan was a good president depends on your political philosophy. The nation's economy was much stronger when he left office than when he took it. The country was safer.

Republicans think he was, but Democrats usually do not. He was good if you agreed with what he did. He did help end the Cold War and bring the economy out of a recession. A lot depends on what you mean by "good. " He was very popular.
