Purina is definitely a fine brand of dog food. Puppy chow can be unhealthy after a while and you need to determine when to switch to regular. This advice varies from 2 months old to a year old. It would be best to consult your vet on the next check-up to see his recommendation for your particular dog.

Purina Puppy Chow is a poor quality food. It contains fillers, or cheap ingredients that your dog can't digest. Corn and beet pulp are fillers. A filler has no nutritional value. A brand like Innova is more expensive but your dog will eat less because the food is more nutrition.

Depending on the age of your dog(s) it should be fine to feed a younger lab food labeled for puppies but, feeding an older dog a nutrient rich food could overload their system with energy and could cause them to get the shakes or become nervous. Switching foods can upset their digestive tract so mix new and old food, slowly.
